My Hair Story: Ft. the Pantene Nutrient Blends Collection

This year makes 10 years since I decided to go natural and 6 years since I last straightened my hair. It’s crazy how time flies! I think back to these moments in my life often. We’re constantly evolving but the past serves as a reminder of who we were and how far we’ve come.

One of my most asked questions has always been ‘what’s your hair routine?’

My hair story began years before I went natural. Every Friday night like clockwork, my mom would wash my hair so I could look my best for church the next day. My grandma would wake up at the crack of dawn to wash her hair, taking so long that the smell of her Pantene products would seep into the bedroom. I no longer wear my hair straight, but whenever I use Pantene’s Hydrating Glow Collection with Baobab Essence Shampoo and Conditioner I think of her. My routine is much simpler nowadays. For weightless, frizz-free curls, I layer the Hydrating Glow Serum after applying leave-in conditioner.

‘How do you refresh your curls?’

One thing my mom instilled in me is that a little effort will go a long way. She’s always pushed me to put my best foot forward, and it's become a form of self-care for me. The days of refreshing a blow out and reaching for a straightener are behind me, but that doesn’t make my hair routine any less of an effort. I love the results I get with the Hydrating Glow Serum which I use weekly, but I also use the Hydrating Glow Conditioner on wash days because it adds weightless hydration to return softness and shine to dry, damaged hair. I like to focus on the ends of my curls to go for that defined, yet effortless look. I love the texture of the Hydrating Glow serum; it starts off as a milky texture then as you rub it in your fingers it becomes oily, and it helps quench parched locks and noticeably repairs split ends for a healthy glow.

Another common question I get is ‘how often do you shampoo?’

The first few years of my natural hair journey, I rarely shampooed. My hair was so fragile from heat damage that I was afraid to strip my hair of the little moisture I had left. Nowadays I shampoo once a week. I love that the Nutrient Blends Hydrating Glow with Baobab Essence Collection is free of sulfates, parabens, dyes and mineral oil. The Hydrating Glow shampoo gently cleanses each strand without stripping my scalp of its natural oils. It’s due to the baobab essence in the formula, which has been used by Tanzanian women to protect their skin and keep their hair hydrated.

I’ll definitely be recommending this collection to all my friends and family. I can’t wait to try out the other products in the Nutrient Blends Collection! You can shop it at CVS here.
