I know what you’re thinking – “This girl is crazy out here wearing leather in the summer time!” I’d be lying if I didn’t agree with you, but a leather lover like myself can’t help it. Leather pieces basically style themselves. You don’t have to spend time wondering how to wear it because it’s typically a statement piece all on its own. A crisp button down, a teeny bandeau, or even a blazer with nothing under; IT ALL WORKS. I would definitely consider it a staple in anyone’s wardrobe.
I used to be that person that never liked mixing nude colors with black, but those days are long gone! The color of the top definitely offers a softer balance to how dark and structured the shorts are. I love showing some shoulder, so I pulled my button down back to expose more of my décolletage. It’s good to use oversized shirts for this, or else the struggle will be real. I’m pretty sure I’ll be doing this all summer long- fair warning.
As you can probably tell from the first few sentences, these shorts are my favorite thing about this look. I love how the belt cinches my waist without any discomfort. It’s definitely a bonus that they aren’t restricting in any way. Despite the material, they surprisingly didn’t cling to my skin in this weather! Since the shorts create a statement all on their own, I decided to keep the shoes simple. Mules with a chunky heel are super comfortable to walk in and they add a casual aspect to the overall look.
Would you dare to rock some leather in this hot weather? Let me know below!
*I am so grateful to be partnering up with River Island for a series of summer looks! Throughout the next few weeks I will be sharing with you how I style some of my favorite pieces from their site.
